Here's a poem I wrote for another class assignment. We had to write and illustrate a children's picture book. This is my first attempt at writing. I think it turned out alright considering.

This was a class assignment that I had to do. We had to make a pattern. I thought it was an incredibly boring assignment so I turned it into an illustration. My teacher went nuts over it and I got an A+. I have since then decided to turn it into a story to flesh out the illustration and am now turning it into a full novel. Who would have thought I would try writing a novel! I'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying I'm writing it. I originally wrote it as a long poem (which I am including on this blog for all to read) to make into a picture book but it was way to long. So now I'm writing it into a young reader book. We'll see how it goes. I am enjoying the process. Yes, it will get finished Byron. These things take time. Don't rush art!





I drew this illustration after a very long and misguided attempt to get away from my artistic abilities. What was I thinking? Medical school? Really? I hadn't drawn in like four years and wanted to see if my skills had died. I think the time away made me better. How weird is that. This is actually a picture from one of my stories I made up. I hope to eventually write that as a book as well. It's an abused circus bear that a ghost family rescues.





Another assignment, but this one was a fun one. We had to illustrate a other-worldly landscape. The teacher and the whole class loved it. I'm quite proud of how well this turned out. Had a couple of late nights trying to finish it on time.





Here is the ghost family I talked about earlier. We had to illustrate a couple of pages of a children's story for an assignment; so I chose one of my own stories. This is where a lost baby rolls into a haunted house in it's baby carriage. A dysfunctional ghost family, who haunts the house, curiously peaks into the carriage to see the baby. There is the paranoid clean freak of a mother, the barely there father, the moody teenage daughter, the hyperactive son, and the grouchy uncle who lives in his safe. They decide to leave the house and take the baby back to it's family.





This is a scene from the end of the story when the baby's evil uncle finally catches the baby that the ghost family was trying to save. A bunch of cats knock him into the baby carriage that rolls off the same cliff he was going to push the baby off earlier. He drops the baby who gets caught by the barely there dad who over-comes his partial presence. All the ghost get over the dysfunctional behavior to become a real family by the end. This could be a fun story to write, hopefully I can get to it some time soon.





This is an illustration that I did when I was practicing with my new pastel pencils. I was thinking of making this into a children's picture book. Having the bird fly around to different locations with the ominous cat lurking not far.

Alright, I know what you're thinking. That boy is sick! But just so you know, I looked up the history of the Easter bunny and it said that when it first came about during the pagan holiday. It layed eggs. I was just trying to show how ridiculous the Easter bunny is. (Okay, okay, in my own sick and twisted way! I'll admit it!)




Here is a birthday card I made for Byron. His birthday is five days before Halloween, so I made it a little creepy and gothic. He also loves crows, so I just had to include them.




These are some character designs I was trying out for my "Welcome to Widow's Woe" story I'm currently writing. My original plan was to write it as a picture book but the story was too long. Now it's turning into a chapter book for young readers, so I don't know who much of my illustrations will make it in the book. It was fun to do non-the-less.




My twisted, dark version of all the chirstmas symbols. Just having fun. I made some of them into my chirstmas cards for everyone.
